Oh, Hey
I’m Stephen Klinck, a freelance creative director and conceptual copywriter based in London. Across a range of media, that’s meant doing the heavy lifting and selling to C-suite clients. Not to mention being comfortable whether the budget’s a million pounds or 20p. Sometimes I work independently with design support, or partner with an art director. Sometimes I lead teams. I try to keep concepts simple. I try not to take myself too seriously. I try to follow the rule of threes. Over the years I’ve won a few awards and a number of pitches, alongside countless talented people. Some of those people still speak to me.

“We got Stephen in for a couple of weeks last November. He stayed for 6 months and I wish it could have been longer.”

Side Projects
They’re not all exactly side projects, but I can’t bring myself to say ‘side hustle’ with a straight face. I’ve also written and reported for Esquire, Men’s Journal and the New York Daily News.
My Story
My dad was in the Army. His dad was in the Army. Naturally, I decided to go into advertising. I mostly grew up in North Carolina. But I’ve been living in London for the last ten years — two places with wildly different opinions on tea. As a kid, I moved around the world to places like South Korea. So it wasn’t a massive surprise I ended up in England. (My partner is also British, which may have something to do with it.) We moved from New York to the UK back in 2016. I’ve been annoying everyone with my American accent ever since.
